In one of the wildest games you will ever see, the Great Lakes Loons outlasted the Clinton LumberKings to become the 2016 Midwest League Champions. It's the first time in franchise history that the Loons have claimed the league title.
Since the home of the Loons was constructed in 2006, the playing surface at Dow Diamond had remained the same. Following the conclusion of the Midwest League Championship, a field replacement process began. Working with Nolan Thomas and Company and the Tuckahoe Sod Farm, updates will be made to the playing surface and structures beneath the field.
The Great Lakes Loons and Los Angeles Dodgers today announced an extension of their player development contract for an additional two seasons through 2018. Since 2007, the Loons have been affiliated with the Dodgers and have won over 600 games. The Loons have also had over 2.5 million fans come through the gates at Dow Diamond.
